Thank you for this wonderful issue of your newsletter. I appreciate the ideas in it and how they make me think deeply about money, being content, and acquisition.
I was reminded of a quote I love:
When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher wall.
And the reason why we build higher walls is because we think of everything we have as "ours." I'll probably talk about angel Kyodo Williams and the personal possessive pronouns "my" and "mine" in a part 2.
I loved the focus on Grace. I believe that grace is one of the most under-appreciated things by us humans...as you stated, we didn't earn our opportunity to be living...it was given freely (even when we don't necessarily "deserve it").
Thanks for your continued sharing of your thoughts / wisdom!
As a product of spiritual abuse & fundamentalism, I’ve felt a bit unmoored (yet peaceful!) since breaking free. I don’t yet know what I believe to be true where spirituality is concerned, but your posts do help me as I am learning to recognize my connection between spirituality & how I choose to live my life. You don’t feel threatening, which has been such a rare experience for me. I’m not comfortable pursuing anything more committed in the way of spiritual direction, but I’m truly grateful to you for so gently offering your perspective.
Spiritual violence cuts to the deepest parts of us, friend. I'm glad you broke free from it. If/when you begin looking deeper within your spirituality again, please think of reaching out. I'm happy to just listen to you.
Just wanted to let you know that I DO read your blog, so at least someone is reading it and I'm pretty sure a whole bunch of us are. Thank you for your thoughtful reflections, insights and humor. You are helping me to wrap my head around the role of money in my life and our world (among other things).

Thanks again for the inspiration.

Douglas,
Please write a part 2!

Trusting grace is the advanced spiritual work. The ego doesn't want to let go.
Thank you, Douglas, for yet another beautiful and inspiring piece of writing. Yes, I would love to read a part 2 to what you have begun here.
